Sounds interesting? Well, it just kept getting better!
The Open House
The event started off with the English Open House, and concluded with the Hindi/Urdu Open House.
As such, there were separate sessions for both English as well as Hindi/Urdu poetry, wherein young poets got a chance to read their works and showcase their talent. The best part? We offered book publishing contracts to select poets from the open house sessions! Yes, there were three winners, each of which now has a guaranteed chance to be published in our upcoming poetry anthologies.
Here are the winners:
- Shreshta Awasthi (Age: 20 years) – Open House English
- Kriti Gupta (Age: 15 years) – Open House Hindi
- Yusuf Azeem (Age: 16 years) – Open House Urdu
The Workshop
Poetic Expressions also included a series of writing workshop and training sessions. The workshop, conducted by writer Sufyan bin Uzayr, encompassed topics such as how to write better poetry, how to promote your works as well as how to pitch yourself to prospective publishers for book contracts. The attendees also came up with several interesting queries, such as how to legally copyright or safeguard their poetry, how to rhyme and write better, etc.
Beyond that, there were talks conducted by Bharatendu Kashyap, noted educator and theatre artist of the town and by Rohit Shivapati, theatre artist and playwright.
